Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how wits collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information when you use the app and its connected capture features.
wits is a private workspace for your own thoughts. It does not currently include public profiles, social feeds, ads, or cross-app ad tracking.
Information you provide
- Account information from Apple sign-in, such as your Apple-provided identifier, email address, and name when Apple provides them.
- Profile and preference information, such as display name fields and onboarding status.
- Voice captures, recording metadata, transcripts, notes, reminders, weekly reflections, folders, tags, due dates, repeat rules, priority, completion status, reminder details, and source transcripts.
- Reminder location details if you or the AI-created reminder includes them, such as a place name, address, latitude, or longitude.
- Apple Reminders that you choose to import, including reminder text, details, due date, creation date, source identifier, and time zone.
- Subscription status, purchase entitlement, and restore-purchase information needed to provide wits+.
- Feedback or support information you choose to send through external support channels.
Information from your device
- Microphone permission is used to record voice captures on iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Notification permission and push tokens are used to schedule and deliver reminder, reflection, and processing notifications.
- Calendar permission is used to read selected event calendars for in-app schedule context. Calendar selections are stored locally on your device.
- Reminders permission is used only when you open the import flow and choose Apple Reminders lists to import.
- Local authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, is used on device to unlock locked notes for the current app session.
- Optional Apple Watch, Action Button, and Shortcuts integrations may use local device settings and launch metadata to start captures, keep Watch capture available, and upload pending Watch recordings.
- Diagnostic information, such as crash reports, app version, device model, OS version, and performance signals, may be used to detect and fix errors.
How wits uses information
- To create and manage your account and keep your workspace scoped to your signed-in identity.
- To upload recordings, process them into transcripts, notes, reminders, and updates, and delete temporary audio after successful processing.
- To show, search, edit, organize, complete, delete, and recover your notes, folders, reminders, daily patterns, and weekly reflections.
- To schedule, update, cancel, and send reminder notifications.
- To import Apple Reminders only when you grant permission and choose the lists to import.
- To show calendar context in the app when you grant permission and select calendars.
- To manage wits+ subscriptions, restore purchases, enforce account limits, and provide subscription support.
- To detect errors, secure the service, prevent abuse, respond to requests, and comply with law.
AI processing
wits uses third-party AI processing providers to turn voice recording audio and relevant workspace context into transcripts, notes, reminders, reminder updates, note updates, daily patterns, and weekly reflections.
Context may include active reminders, existing note candidates, note folders, the target note when you continue a note, timestamps, time zone, and recent workspace data needed for pattern or reflection generation. wits should not be used for content you are not comfortable sending to service providers that help operate the app.
Service providers and sharing
wits shares information with service providers only as needed to operate the app, including providers for sign-in, cloud storage, database hosting, AI transcription and organization, push notification delivery, app distribution, subscription management, diagnostics, security, and support.
wits may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the service, subject to this policy or notice where required.
wits does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising based on the current mobile app implementation.
Retention and deletion
Audio files are temporary for successful captures: after processing succeeds, wits deletes the stored audio file and keeps the transcript and generated workspace items for your review. If processing fails, audio or failure metadata may remain until cleanup, deletion, or account deletion.
Notes, reminders, weekly reflections, folders, transcripts, daily patterns, preferences, imported reminders, notification data, subscription entitlement records, diagnostic records, and auth records are kept while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete individual notes and reminders in the app.
Deleting your account from Settings is designed to remove your app data, recordings, notes, reminders, weekly reflections, folders, daily patterns, notification records, Watch capture setup data, and sign-in data, subject to technical limits, backup retention, legal obligations, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and security needs.
Your choices
- You can grant, deny, or revoke iOS permissions for microphone, notifications, Calendar, Reminders, and local authentication in iOS Settings.
- You can choose which calendars are active and which Apple Reminders lists to import.
- You can edit or delete notes and reminders, sign out, or delete your account from Settings.
- You can stop using Apple Watch capture or Action Button launch paths by removing their setup or revoking app access where iOS allows.
Privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, delete, correct, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. California residents may also have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit use of sensitive personal information, and be free from discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
Because wits does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale or sharing opt-out to process in the current mobile app. To exercise available rights, delete your account in Settings or use the support contact listed on the wits App Store product page.
Sensitive information
Your recordings, notes, reminders, weekly reflections, imported reminders, calendar context, and reminder locations may include sensitive personal information if you choose to include it. wits uses that information to provide requested app features and does not use it to infer characteristics for advertising or unrelated profiling.
Security
wits uses authenticated account access, service-provider safeguards, iOS permission prompts, local protected storage for selected device settings, and deletion flows to protect data. No system is perfectly secure.
Locked notes are protected in the interface by local device authentication for the current session. In the current implementation, locked notes are not end-to-end encrypted.
Children
wits is not directed to children under 13 and should not be used by children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to wits, contact us through the support contact listed on the App Store product page so we can take appropriate steps.
International processing
wits and its providers may process and store information in the United States and other locations where they operate. If you use wits from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app, providers, or law changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. The effective date shows when this policy last changed.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the support contact listed on the wits App Store product page. You can also delete your account directly from Settings.
